Artist/Dr

Will Lunden

Will Lunden (also known as "Goreblaster" and "Dr. Gore") is a guitarist living in the Bay Area, CA, U.S. He writes, records, and performs with his primary project The Beast of Nod, a sci-fi lore-driven technical/progressive death metal band whose latest record featured guest appearances by Joe Satriani and Michael Angelo Batio. In addition to working on TBoN, Dr. Gore writes and records for several other projects including progressive/avant-garde metal band Mimesis, progressive rock collaboration Pariahblaster, and a new death metal project called Necrogenesis. He also frequently records guest guitar solos (recent appearances include albums by Mortem Obscuram and The Last King), and teaches classes on both guitar technique and the physics of the electric guitar. Outside of playing guitar, Dr. Gore has a PhD in atomic physics from MIT, and currently works as a physicist in the private sector. He has leveraged some of his technical skill set to create a number of pieces of audio technology over the years; recently, he created a programmable LED fretboard for Chris Letchford of Scale the Summit which gained international attention.

The String Source strings became Dr. Gore's instant favorite when he first tried them. The Source's sets are uniquely well-suited to the extended range, multiscale guitars that Dr. Gore uses, offering intelligently selected gauges that provide comfortable tension across the entire range of the instrument. The lifetime of the strings is also essentially unrivaled: every set he's used has maintained a crisp tone and a clean feel for a surprisingly long time.

Dr. Gore usually plays in standard tuning on an eight string, multiscale guitar (often his custom Equilibrium Guitars FT-8), and prefers the Amethyst 8 set.
